Fans of FOX8’s creepy Psycho prequel series Bates Motel will be happy to hear that Norman (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) will be back for a third season.

Currently midway through season 2, A&E (the show’s US channel) announced they have greenlit a 10 episode third season to begin production later this year.

Originally pitched as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho, Bates Motel has revealed itself to be not only the story of one boy’s damaged relationship with his mother, but also the story of a town that acted as a mirror for the Bates’ poisonous relationship and Norman’s fractured mind.
