While it’s pretty much confirmed that any form of a Friends reunion will never take place another popular 90’s sitcom is planing to give fans a special treat.
While still in very very early stages of creation The WoW Report recently noted that all four main cast members – Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes, are all on board along with long-time director James L Burrows and that filming will also take place on the same soundstage the original series was filmed.
Just what kind of special could we expect? Eric McCormack revealed back in Feb this year that while he’s happy to never play Will Truman again, he’d be more than keen to take part in a different kind of reunion special.
“I think we’d all reunite as actors to talk about it, the way Carol Burnett did years ago,” he told ABC News. “Just get together and laugh and tell stories to an audience would be great. To actually play those characters again, I don’t know. I think it can be a very dangerous rabbit hole.”
Since the iconic show ended in 2006, most of the main cast have enjoyed constant on screen success. Debra Messing quickly moved onto the NBC musical drama Smash and will soon be seen headlining NBC’s drama The Mysteries of Laura. Megan Mullally has been popping up in Parks and Recreation, Web Therapy, 30 Rock and Trophy Wife. Eric McCormack is now headlining the drama Perception – now in it’s third season and Sean Hayes has been moving between guest gigs on Parks and Recreation, Smash and Up all Night before starring in Sean Saves the World which was recently cancelled after it’s first season.
A cast reunion special where they sit and talk or a scripted comedy special….either way, we all know it’s about Karen Walker
