Get to Know the Grey’s Anatomy Interns in B-Team Spin-Off.

Bteam1

The current batch of Grey’s Anatomy interns have been around for a while now but we’re finally getting to know a little more about them in a Grey’s spin-off series!

That new batch of doe-eyed wannabe doctors that we first met back at the beginning of Grey’s fourteenth season are finally getting their own back story in the form of mini-webisodes titled Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team, created to bridge the span between the show’s fourteenth and fifteenth seasons where our interns become a stronger fixture with the established doctors.

The six, two and bit minute long episodes take us back to their very first day at Grey/Sloan Memorial with each episode taking point from the view of different interns, helped along the way by familiar faces including Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Miranda Bailey (Chanda Wilson) who almost recreates her very first meeting with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) in the pilot of Grey’s Anatomy with this new batch of interns.

While we’ve already gotten to know Sam (Jeanine Mason) via her romantic past with DeLuca (Giacomo Gianiotti) and Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) who was given the nickname “glasses” after his glasses fell into an open patient mid-surgery, the rest of the interns (Sophia Taylor Ali as Dahlia, Alex Blue Davis as Casey, Jaicy Elliot as Taryn and Rushi Kota as Vik) are given some screen time even though it’s in a limited format.

It’s just a shame that this spin-off (directed by Grey’s own Sarah Drew AKA April Kepner) is offered in such small doses.  Two and a half-odd minutes is not long enough to really get our Greys juices flowing and we’re left wanting more.

No word as yet on when Season fifteen begins on our screens.

Grey’s Anatomy B-Team is now available to stream on 7Plus.

Upfronts: ABC Cancellations, Renewals and Pick-ups

Image
ABC’s cancelled Trophy Wife

It’s time of the year where I moan and groan about losing some of my ‘must watch’ shows while being thankful others on the list live to see another season.

Yes, the US Upfronts are here and already, I’ve suffered one serious tragedy.  ABC held their Upfronts yesterday and one notable standout on the cancelled list was freshman comedy Trophy Wife starring Malin Ackerman and Bradley Whitford.

Trophy Wife, like Cougar Town, suffered from ‘bad title’ syndrome which is great show, very funny, bad title and just like Cougar Town, ABC swept the comedy into the trash (perhaps TBS should pick this one up too?)

While ABC won’t officially unveil their new fall season until the 13th, what can we expect from the network with their pick-ups, renewals and cancellations so far?

Cancelled – Trophy Wife (noooooo!), Mixology, Super Fun Night, Suburgatory and The Neighbors.

Renewed – Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Castle, Marvel Agents of SHIELD, Modern Family, The Goldbergs and Resurrection.

New Pick-Ups –

How to get away with murder – New drama by Shonda Rhimes

American Crime – Starring Penelope Ann Miller and Felicity Huffman

Agent Carter – Captain America TV spin-off starring Hayley Atwell

The Whispers – Paranormal thriller starring Lily Rabe

Secrets and Lies – US remake of the Aussie drama starring Ryan Phillippe.

Grey’s Anatomy Returns to Channel 7

Image

It has been a looooooong wait for Grey’s Anatomy fans since they were last treated to an episode on Channel 7, but good news has come for those eagerly and patiently waiting the shows return…but it’s going to cost you some very late nights.

Channel 7 are offering up double episodes on Monday nights from 10pm – airing right after brand new episodes of Revenge.

Our last outing with the medial drama saw Bailey (Chandra Wilson) still suffering with her sudden onset on OCD while tensions between Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Christina (Sandra Oh) were starting to reach a dangerous boiling point as both doctors battle for new treatment research breakthroughs.

The return of Greys will see us only 12 (yes 12) episodes behind the USA who will have the massive series finale this week.

Exit Stage Left: 2 More Grey’s Anatomy Stars Leaving

Image

We already know Sandra Oh (Dr. Christina Yang) won’t be back for Season 11 and that brings with it a return from Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) and now Deadline are reporting that two more stars of Greys Anatomy won’t be returning as well.

Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles who play Leah Murphy and Shane Ross will not be back for the upcoming 11th season of Greys Anatomy as their contracts as series regulars have not been renewed, although there’s no word if the two will continue to make guest appearances throughout the new season.

It’s still unclear as to how Murphy and Ross will be written out of the show but judging how the two characters story arcs have played out over the last season, failed relationships could be the reason why.

Will you be sad to see Murphy and Ross leave?

He’s Back: Fired Greys Anatomy Star Returns

Image

Seven years after being fried from the set of Grey’s Anatomy, Isaiah Washington is set to return to the medical drama in a guest stint that coincides with Sandra Oh’s departure from the show.

It made news worldwide, saw one star fired and another come out as gay, I am, of course talking about the altercation between Greys Anatomy stars Isaiah Washington and T.R Knight (and also [allegedly] involved Patrick Dempsey) in which a homophobic slur was used and subsequently saw Washington’s firing from the hit series.

Seven years on, all seems to be forgiven and Washington will be back as Dr.Preston Burke who was last seen in the series three finale, leaving Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) at the altar on their wedding day.

In a statement, show-runner Shonda Rhimes said “It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”

Sandra will leave the show at the end of the 10th season in May.

ABC hasn’t announced a specific date for Washington’s return to Grey’s Anatomy but the episode is expected to air during the May sweeps period.

Grey’s Anatomy is Not Going Anywhere Soon!

Image

Grey’s Anatomy fans need not to worry.  The medical drama and it’s two mains stars – Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) and Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) are not going anywhere, well, not anytime soon.  The two have just singed a new two year contact extensions with the show, even though Grey’s Anatomy has not officially been picked up by ABC past it’s 10th season.

The news of the contact extension however should indicate it will be back for an 11th season.  This comes after the news that Sandra Oh (Christina Yang) announced her departure from the long running show, with her final scenes to be screened in America in May and shortly thereafter here in Australia.

So while fans should be happy that McDreamy and his wife are sticking around, the fate of other members at Grey-Sloane memorial remain to be known.  Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), James Pickens Jr (Richard Webber) and Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) are locked into contracts set to expire at the end of the current season. While Ramirez joined the show in series 2, she and the remaining three cast members are on the same renegotiation schedule, with show runner Shonda Rhimes yet to confirm their return to the medical soap.

Grey’s Anatomy airs on the Seven Network on Thursday nights.

Oh No! Sandra Oh Leaving Grey’s Anatomy

Image
Sandra Oh as Christina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy

It’s confirmed.  Sandra Oh is leaving Grey’s Anatomy after the shows 10th season and is taking her character Christina Yang with her.

“I gave myself two years to emotionally let go” says Sandra Oh on her upcoming departure from Grey’s Anatomy and in an official statement, Oh said, “It’s been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on ‘GA’ and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her. It was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda and the writers. It’s so rare in an actor’s life to be able to explore and grow a character so fully, so completely. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at ‘GA’ for the opportunity. I’m excited to celebrate and cherish every moment of my final season on ‘GA’ with the fans who have made it all possible.”

Co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo are still in talks regarding their stay post season 10.

ABC plan to keep the beloved medical drama on air for many more years to come with the aim to maintain as many original characters as possible to keep the show going into the future.

The shows 10th season kicks into gear next year picking up from the season 9 finale which saw a super storm tear through Chicago, Meredith gave birth to a healthy baby and also saw Richard Weber (possibly) dead from an electric shock in the basement.,

Superstorm Finale for Grey’s Anatomy

Image
Chandra Wilson as Doctor Miranda Bailey in Grey’s Anatomy

For a show that’s known for it’s explosive season finale’s, Show creator Shonda Rhimes has promised this one will also be one to shock and remember for a long time to come!

Rhimes has revealed that, over the course of the season, many things have changed for the finale, an episode that has grown and evolved as the season has moved along and will see a Superstorm hit Chicago and the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.  The superstorm will affect the recently renamed hospital and cause its staff to go into crisis mode in an hour that is being described as very intense with a lot of ‘major’ things changing for the characters in the final two episodes of the season”

Previous  season finale’s have included plane crashes that killed off favorite characters and hospital shootings, Grey’s Anatomy is set to make this season closer another one to remember.

Grey’s Anatomy currently airs double episodes Monday nights from 10pm on the Seven Network and is currently 6 episodes behind.
