Friday the 13th: The Game, see’s Jason Gain a Fast Warp Ability.

3053127-friday

Not for the squeamish, the up-coming Friday the 13th: The Game coming soon to consoles and windows dropped a new trailer showcasing some more of the classic killer and his new ability to ‘fast warp’ to certain locations within the camp ground map.

Check it out below.

The game, due for release later this year, is a third person horror/survival multiplayer game which will see players take on the role of a (more than likely doomed) counselor or the monster himself Jason Voorhees.  It is your aim to either escape or kill, and while playing as a counselor allows you to work together to try and take Jason down, if you have to kill off your camp mate to save yourself….you’ll be able to do that too.

The devs have taken inspiration straight from the long running series and have carefully crafted the environment of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason and the camp counselors to remind us of everything we remember about Friday the 13th, right down to the visual fidelity of the 80’s.

Starting out strictly as a multiplayer game, Friday the 13th has now evolved into including a single player aspect thanks to increased interest from fans and extra funding.  It is this new addition that has seen the release pushed until “sometime early 2017”.

“Single player will consist of objective-based missions where you take control of Jason. You’ll get to see missions that will remind you of the movies, as well as entirely new scenarios to sink your machete into!”

IAMElemental Reveals Series 2 Female Action Figures

Series 2 of IAmElemental Female Action Figures

Hugely popular IAmElemental female action figures with positive messages aimed at providing affirmative and interactive toys for girls, released final images from their highly anticipated second series of figures named ‘Wisdom’.

Series 2/Wisdom is a series of seven 4” articulated action figures based on the Elements of Power – superpowers that already exist inside each one of us,” said Julie Kerwin, IAmElemental’s Chief Elemental Officer.  The first figures, Series 1/Courage, were modeled on Joan of Arc while the ‘muse’ chosen for Series 2/Wisdom is Hypatia, the daughter of the Greek scholar and mathematician Theon who has been praised by Smithsonian magazine as ‘one of the last great thinkers of ancient Alexandria and one of the first women to study and teach mathematics, astronomy and philosophy.’  She was a STEM pioneer, writing about math, building astronomical instruments, and distilling complicated philosophical concepts into digestible bits that her students could process and understand.

The neutral colored, less busty female figures made a huge impact with their initial announcement back in 2014 via kickstarter which boasted a “more heroine, less hooters” tagline that aimed to show that being a hero is not restricted to sex, bust size or skin color.

Series one was based on courage and featured  a series of 4″ figures plus an exclusive 6″ figure which, the team at IAmElemental confirmed to me, a second 6″ figure will be included in this second series..

Now not needing to rely on kickstarter funding, the figures are being sold through the IAmElemental website and via specialty retailers online with a third series planned for 2017 based on ‘justice’.

Having got my greedy hands on the series one/courage figures, the quality was second to none with each figure being provided with a bio card, sporting great articulation and fun and interactive play with certain elements of these figures being interchangeable among each other. The most noticeable change from courage to wisdom is the color palette with courage featuring deep red skin tones, pink and purple hair and silver/grey uniforms while soon to be released wisdom will feature purple and blue skin tones and hair with gold uniforms and color accents.

Marauder Task Force Wave Two Female Figures Kickstarter Goes Live

The Marauder Task Force Gaming Figures has to be one of the most successful action figure kickstarter campaigns to date.  Their original goal of $30,000 to produce a line of articulated and customizable 3.75″ action figures was smashed with Marauder Gun-Runners reaching just shy of $255,000 for their campaign.

Wave two of the figures has been announced and has gone live on kickstarter featuring an all-female line called The Valkyries and they’ve already surpassed their funding goal of $34,000 (in less than 2 days) with 36 days (as of this post) left to go.

The first wave of figures were a hit with collectors (they fit in perfectly with GI.Joe) featuring great designs from Boss Fight Studio and a fun modular accessory dynamic that allows for near-total customization with interchangeable heads, protective gear and weapons.

This second wave is aiming to achieve the same effect with the removable headgear & vests having “modular” attachment points which provide the ability to “mix & match” the assorted modular equipment as desired. Also, there are “modular” accessory mounting points ON the actual figure. The figures and accessories will be available in assorted colors.

From the campaign: The Marauder Task Force Valkyries action figures feature articulation points at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, thighs, knees, and ankles. Rather than a “mid-chest” articulation point, the articulation point is in the waist. The swivel waist allows for greater movement and, most importantly, will not interfere with the modular vests when in use on the figures.

With Hasbro copping a whacking from the public over the lack of Black Widow/Scarlet Witch action figures, it’s great to see independent productions like Marauders getting into the female action figure game.  While several earlier kickstarter campaigns featuring similar ideas have failed (Agent AnnikaHumanoid YvonneLeigon XIV) Marauders previous and wildly successful outing has proved to be a winner.

As a big fan of the female GI. joe figures, I’ll be watching this kickstarter very closely.  Check out and back this campaign here!
