Confirmed: Netflix Announced Full House Return

80’s Sitcom Full House is Returning to TV

“Everywhere you look, there’s a heart, a hand to hold on to.  Everywhere you look (everywhere) There’s a face of somebody who needs you.  When you’re lost out there and your all alone a light is waiting to carry you home.  Everywhere you look.”  We all know the lyrics and now they’ll be stuck in your head all day but that’s ok as Netflix is bringing back Full House!

The Tanner family will be returning for a 13 episode spin-off series thanks to Netflix with John Stamos, (who played rocker Uncle Jesse) confirming the news on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night saying “I’m going to give you the exclusive, Literally just like five minutes ago they (Netflix) called, they sealed the deal.”
Currently titled “Fuller House”, the spin-off will focus on DJ Tanner (Candice Cameron-Bure) who is now a pregnant and recently widowed veterinarian (sounds like a hoot so far) and her two sons, her younger sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and her best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) with Stamos set to guest star in the spin-off.  The pilot episode is being touted as a one hour cast reunion special.

While half the cast has already signed on, Bob Saget (Danny Tanner), Dave Coulier (Uncle Joey), Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (Michelle Tanner) and Lori Loughlin (Aunt Becky) are still in talks with Netflix to return.  Said Loughlin to Access Hollywood “they made deals with half the cast, but not the other half.  I don’t have a deal, Dave doesn’t have a deal, Bob, we’re all in negotiations. I think we would all like to come back, if the powers that be are fair to all of us.”

As big fans of the original ‘Full House,’ we are thrilled to be able to introduce ‘Fuller House’s’ new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, in a statement.

In a joint statement, executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Jeff Franklin said: “The continued support of ‘Full House’ fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring ‘Full House’ back to life.”

“Everywhere you look, everywhere you go, there’s a heart, (there’s a heart), a hand to hold on to….”  We all know the lyrics and we may actually be hearing them again very soon as Warner Bros TV are eyeing off a reboot of 80’s sitcom Full House.

TVGUIDE are reporting that the original series which ran from 1987 to 1995 is in the works for a revival of the series, continuing on the story of the Tanner family that would include familiar faces from the original show.

Leading the charge for a revival is John Stamos (who played rocker Uncle Jesse) who has an ownership stake in the show while original executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin (who’s writing the new version) are also actively involved.  Cast wise, TVGUIDE are noting that Candice Cameron-Bauer (D.J), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) have raised their hands to take part while Bob Saget (Danny) and Jeff Coulier (Uncle Joey) may be involved in some aspect.

No word on whether the Olsen Twins – Ashley and Mary-Kate who shared the role of Michelle will take part.

While there’s been a mass of possible re-boots (Charmed and Murder She Wrote) that have fallen flat before making it to filming, with the success of the Boy Meets World revival (Girls Meets World on Disney Channel) there’s some hope that a return for the Tanner’s may actually come through.

So while we wait for anymore news, i’ll leave you with the following clip so it gets stuck in your head for the next three hours…

Where Are They Now: The Kimmy Gibbler Edition

Looking back at this family favorite, Uncle Joey was the funny one, Aunt Becky the sensible one, Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) turned to drugs once the show ended and the Olsen Twins became fashionably dressed bag ladies in over sized jumpers, but for most people, when remembering this show, always seem to mention the annoying neighbor in bright neon leggings – Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).  She, of the addiction to shopping and smelly feet remained a staple of Full House for it’s entire run and to this day, remains a fan favorite of the show.

Andrea Barber was the only member of the Full House family who did not either continue in the industry or win up in the pages of a gossip magazine once the show ended and funnily enough, recently revealed she originally auditioned for the role of D.J Tanner.

So what happened to our frizzy haired friend with the smelly feet? Well it seems Barber ditched Hollywood after “Full House” and acquired a degree in English from Whittier College, received an MA in Women’s Studies from the University of York in England and returned to Whittier as assistant to the director of Whittier College’s Office of International Programs. In 2002, she married Jeremy Rytky with whom she has two children — a nine-year-old son named Tate and a six-year-old daughter named Felicity.

Today, Andrea Barber remains close friends with her co-star Candice Cameron and is a heavy twitter user and while she has been tempted to step back into the industry, she has no plans to return to television anytime soon stating that “I definitely have those moments, but I would never go back to acting–that was more of a childhood hobby for me; it was like my after-school sport. It was fun, and I had a great experience with it, but it’s not something I’d like to sample again as an adult”  She did note however that if there were ever to be a Full House reunion, she would be up for that!
