Scalpers Come out on Top in Scramble to nab Alanis Tickets

90’s singer/song writer powerhouse Alanis Morissette is coming to Australia for the first time in almost 20 years with two ‘acoustic and intimate’ shows in Sydney and Melbourne booked for mid January 2018.  The Grammy winning singer will perform at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Tuesday January 23 and Sydney’s ICC Theatre on Wednesday January 24, performing an acoustic song-list spanning her entire career with songs from her debut album Jagged Little Pill to her most recent release, 2012’s Havoc and Bright Lights.

The high demand to see the 90’s favorite return to our shores saw tickets for the two shows (which went on general sale through Ticketmaster.com.au and Ticketek.com.au at 9am this morning (Monday August 7th)) sell out in minutes though judging by the backlash on social media it appears scalpers came out in full force versus the fans with re-seller websites being flooded with tickets listed at two times plus the original price only moments later.

The tickets which ranged from a respectable $99 or $139 are now flooding ticket reselling sites such as Ticketmaster’s ‘authorized’ reselling page with a minimum $300 price tag while the horribly reviewed Viagogo has tickets from $230 not including the $60+ booking fee.

Stars Hit Melbourne for SupaNova Expo 2016

Amy Acker of Angel and Alias

Once again, it’s that time of year when the pop culture obsessed join forces with cosplayers and celebrities alike to attend the Melbourne leg of the Supanova Pop Culture Expo.

Having packed up and moved from last weekends Gold Coast location, Supernova begins this Friday April 15th with the annual preview night before kicking off Saturday morning at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Guests this year include Game of Thrones Jack Gleeson (Joffrey), Adrienne Palicki (G.I Joe Retaliation), Dawn Wells (Gilligan’s Island) and Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter) among a myriad of other sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture stars, artists and authors.

Click here for a full list of attendees.

There also seems to be a change to the way attendees can purchase autograph and photo op tokens this year with the option to pre-purchase these tokens online via the official Supanova website all but eliminating the excruciatingly long line that had become a standard of Supanova to buy those tokens.

Check out the autograph and photo op pre-purchase page here

To follow all the action make sure you follow the #Supanova hash tag on Instagram and twitter!

Supanova Pop Culture expo hits Melbourne this weekend April 15th to 18th at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Madonna Announces Australian Rebel Heart Tour Dates

Madonna is coming to Australia
Madonna is *finally* including Australia (and New Zealand) in a world tour.

Let’s put things into perspective – the last time Madonna toured Australia, I was 13 years old.  The next time she’ll visit us, I’ll be almost 36 years old.

Weird to think the last time Madonna was in Australia, I was 13 years old and in the midst of a major Madonna phase.  It was The Girlie Show Tour and when tickets were on sale, I was sick – very sick, and had taken a few days off from school. So much was my Madonna love, the entire year level thought I had taken time off to try and snag tickets.  Thus was not the case, I never got to see the concert – naturally assuming there’d be plenty more visits over the coming years……

23 years I’ve been waiting for Madonna to bring a tour down under – Drowned World, Re-Invention, Confessions (Man I would have killed to see this live), Sticky & Sweet, MDNA – 5 world tours and nadda.  Finally though, Madonna has confirmed she’s bringing her Rebel Heart tour to our distant shores.

Part of me is super excited – I mean come on, it’s Madonna.  This is the woman who claims the bragging rights of being the first ever person to grace my bedroom wall in poster format all the way back in 1986 – the other half is a bit eh-eh as (by previous tours) we’ll more than likely be hit with tracks from her latest album Rebel Heart – which (sad to say) is one of my least favorite albums from Madonna to date.

I’m not going to bitch and moan about the album though…Madonna is coming to Australia!

There’s already a bunch of pre-pre-sale specials set and Livenation has listed a slew of platinum and VIP tour packages that will set fans (not me) back a few thousand dollars.

Rebel Heart Australia Tour Dates:

Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne – March 12th 2016
Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne – March 13th 2016
Allphones Arena, Sydney – March 19th 2016
Allphones Arena, Sydney – March 20th 2016
Entertainment Centre, Brisbane – March 26th 2016
Entertainment Centre, Brisbane – March 27th 2016

I’ll personally be very happy with the everyday regular side-restricted view $99 tickets – that’s if I manage to grab some tickets!

Buffy and Angel star Charisma Carpenter Returns to Melbourne in April
Buffy and Angel star Charisma Carpenter Returns to Melbourne in April

The annual Supernova Pop Culture expo is returning to Melbourne again in April and this years line-up of ‘supa-star guests’ is looking to be one of the most impressive in years.

Fans of the Joss Wheddon created Buffy and Angel universe, medieval drama Merlin and the original Star Trek series are set to be in for a treat with stars from each show currently scheduled to make an appearance at both the Melbourne and Gold Coast expo’s.

From Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are James Masters (Spike) and Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) who have made multiple appearances at the expo.  From Merlin, Eoin Macken (Gawine) and Alexander Vlahos (Mordred) and from Star Trek, huge names including George Takei (Sulu), Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and Walter Koenig (Chekov) will all be there.

Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor (Penguin) and Teen Wolf‘s Tyler Hoechlin are also making the trip down under.

For a full list of attendee’s click here.

All stars will be available for autograph sessions and photo opportunities (paid) as well as selected free to attend Q&A session which I suggest anyone attending try and get to as they are a great way to not only hear about some of the behind-the-scenes stuff from your favorite shows but also ask your favorite star some questions.  George Takei is already confirmed for a session so plan your day wisely to attend!

Supanova Expo hits Melbourne, April 10th-12th at the Melbourne Show Grounds.  Tickets can be pre-purchased through Moshtix (highly suggested) or on the day at the event.

Stars Hit Town for SupaNova Expo

Lucy Lawless, Michael Rooker and Peter Mayhew are all set for appearances this year.

There’ll be at least three people dressed as Superman, a couple of Storm Troopers and some people dressed up in outfits referencing such obscure characters you’ll be wondering how comfortable they  could be under all the layers and body paint.  Yes, Supanova  Expo is almost here again!

As per usual, Gold Coast and Melbourne are the first stops with an impressive line-up of movie and TV stars available for autographs, photo sessions and even better, Q&A seminars, throughout the weekend.

Gold Coast (April 4-6) and Melbourne (April 11-13) will see names like Lucy Lawless (Xena Warrior Princess), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead), Finn Jones (Game of Thrones), Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), Voice talent from Adventure Time plus Verne Troyer (Austin Powers Movies) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca Star Wars Trilogy) all appearing.

For a full list of those attending, check the SupaNova website.

Sydney and Perth venues are also expecting a decent lineup of stars with Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), John Barrowman (Torchwood), Katie Cassidy (Melrose Place 2.0/Arrow) and Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) all slated to appear.

Like every year, the event organizers at SupaNova have put together some amazing ticketing deals allowing the biggest fans get the best experiences!

There’s a Middle Earth Magic Pass for $250 which includes a group photo with cast members of The Hobbit, priority queuing for photo ops and autographs plus entry to the Middle Earth Q&A panel on the Sunday.

Also, there’s a Fan of the Arena pass for $250 for fans of Lucy Lawless and Spartacus which along with priority queuing also includes a group photo with Lawless and Manu Bennett (Crixus in Spartacus).

I’ve attended the last 5 events, meeting and getting photos with the likes of Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeanie) and Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Dollhouse), Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie), Charisma Carpenter (Angel) and Claire Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).  While the photo and autograph ops are great fun, it’s the Q&A seminars that are the most fun!  Great way to find out some unknown or rare facts about some of your favorite shows!

Update: James Callis (Merlin, Battlestar Galactica) and Freema Agyeman (Dr. Who, The Carrie Diaries) have been added to the Melbourne/Gold Coast line-up!  Manu Bennett has had to cancel due to Arrow filming running overtime while Lucy Lawless has had to pull out of all commitments from Sundays schedule, though she’ll still appear Friday night and Saturday.
