Playing House Makes my Heart Smile (and needs a third season)

Earlier this year, I said goodbye to a group of old friends.  They lived in a cul-de-sac, drank lots of wine and made me laugh for 6 seasons, that show, of course was Cougar Town.  It was (and still is) my go-to show when I needed a pick-me-up or just felt like checking in with the gang. Looking forward, in need of a new connection, and something else to treasure and join my ‘go-to’ club, I recently re-ignited my love with USA’s original comedy, Playing House.  It started last week with a weekend long re-binge of season one and ended today after a week long binge with the finale of season two – and me screaming “you did not just end it there!” (and wanting to be besties with Maggie and Emma and/or Lennon and Jessica.)

The heart warming (seriously, this show makes my heart smile) laugh out loud comedy about two best friends coming together to support each other, showcases the perfect comedic talents of it’s leads in Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair and also offers probably the most realistic look at everyday life between two life-long best friends.

I want in on that friendship!

Now, that season two cliffhanger between former-lovers-about-to-possibly-reunite – Emma (St. Clair) and Mark (Keegan-Michael Key) is just begging to be explored and us, the fans, are begging USA to let this tale be told!  We’re in the danger zone (Kenny Loggins reference required) and we’re all giddy-up with the possibility of Mark and Emma reuniting – even if it means Mark’s ex-wife Bird Bones (Lindsay Sloane) is permanently taken away from us to which I will accept that fate even though I LOVE BIRD BONES!

So, if a third season was to happen, here’s some notes about what I would like.  Please take this as my personal recommendations that are obviously shared by the entire PH fanbase….

*MORE THAN 8 EPISODES!  Seriously, in this case, eight is not enough!  8 weeks out of 52 per year is not enough of Maggie and Emma…especially when you binge watch and discover you’ve pretty much just spent a long weekend with them and as PH is joining my ‘go-to’ club, I want to be able to finish gorging my box of Oreos before the season is done with in one sitting!

tumblr_n6iohhUZ351skhsroo5_250

*The most virile man to ever roam Pinebrook – Bosephus – MUST make another comeback!  The fact that Kenny Loggin’s roadies were smitten should be enough fodder to bring Bose back plus we all know Maggie stashed that kicker trucker cap somewhere safe!

bc2f9830-1127-11e4-b2e8-0b0d843662d5_PH-zach

*More Zach Woods!  We didn’t get enough of Zach this past season and we’re only just beginning to crack the surface of this odd egg Emma calls her brother.

ezgif-2194602231

*Bring back Jeanine Willcall or bring back Stephnie Weir!  First off, Jeanine Willcall is like the best name ever (right up there with Hotwives of Orlando’s Veronica Von Vandervon) and Stephnie Weir is just plain old funny as fuck.  WE LOVE STEPHNIE!

tumblr_nsld5fVMog1rofocqo1_250

*Give Maggie some more lovin’!  Those body rolls and jealous making dance moves need more time off the dance floor and more time in the bedroom!

It was almost six months from Playing House’s season one finale before we were blessed with the announcement of a second season – here’s hoping that (a) the show is renewed (a must) and (b) it’s not 6 months before we get this news!

Fingers crossed

The Freak is out in THAT Wentworth Season Three Finale

Crazy is as crazy does. Wentworth went out on a fiery high.
Crazy is as crazy does. Wentworth went out on a fiery high.

I’ve said it the past two seasons and i’ll say it again – Wentworth is nothing short of incredible (Australian) television and Tuesday night’s season three finale only cemented that fact bringing a close to a multitude of story arcs and opening up some brand new ones.

Warning – if you have not seen the season finale – do not continue!  Spoilers beyond!

https://twitter.com/cameron_adams/status/613313009235005440

The season three finale included the death (booooo) of inmate and she-of-the-eepy-creepy-eyes Jess Warner (Georgia Chara) who finally revealed her true freak and why she found herself in Wentworth, who met an untimely end at the hands of Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), who, herself had a mighty fall from grace as her past indiscretions came to a head and the release of Frankie Doyle (Nicole da Silva) into the waiting arms of former prison counselor Bridget Westfall (Libby Tanner).

So now the big questions remain for season four – that sneak peak at the end of the credits featuring a heavily disheveled Ferguson sporting a rather snug straight jacket while sitting in a padded cell – surely that means her story line will continue into season four.  Will Karen Proctor’s (Tammy MacIntosh) entrance into Wentworth prove trouble for Bea (Danielle Cormack) considering Ferguson set Bea up as the informer who tipped the police off to Karen’s involvement with the Red Right Hand vigilante group?  Will Vera (Kate Atkinson) step up as the new governor?  And the biggest of them all – Surely Frankie and Bridget can’t be really gone right?

Either way, I didn’t do too badly in my 8 Wentworth Season Three End Game Suspicions post!  Nailed Jess, Ferguson, Frankie and Karen’s end-games!

Tell me your thoughts people!  What did you think, what do you think and what do you want for season 4?!  Sound off in the comments below!

Wentworth returns to SoHo in 2016 (awww man!!)

Eight Wentworth Season Three Endgame Suspicions…

Could Jess Warner be Wentworth's third season endgame?
Could Jess Warner be Wentworth’s third season endgame?

With only two episodes left for season three, Wentworth is beginning to string together all the puzzle pieces that have been strewn about for the past two seasons.  With Season three endgame in sight, here are some of my suspicions of what could happen.  – Spoilers ahead for those not up-to-date with season three!!

Buh-bye Sophie?
Buh-bye Sophie?

1: Sophie Donaldson Leaves /// The inclusion of Sophie Donaldson (Edwina Samuels) this season played heavily into Liz’s (Celia Ireland) season arc.  Proving that actions can be louder than words, Sophie chose a ‘don’t do as I say, do as I do’ approach to her mothers alcoholism and promptly found herself joining mummy dearest in prison with a drink driving-hit and run charge.  Now that Liz has cleaned herself up after a sloppy mid-season binge on ‘Boomer Brew’, Sophie really hasn’t had much else to do with the exception of her meet and greet with the wife of the man she killed.

I'm back bitches!
I’m back bitches!

2: Erica Davidson Returns /// It’s probably a long-shot, but could season one’s temporary governor Erica Davidson (Leeanna Walsman) make a surprise return to the hot seat?  With Governor Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) on a fast downward spiral, ‘the board’ could be looking to fill the head position fast.  Sure Erica was fired for losing control of the female prisoners (Bea killing Jacs ultimately lead to Erica’s dismissal) but she also knows the job and the women – especially Frankie (Nicole da Silva).

Best friends again?
Best friends again?

3: Will and Fletch re-ignite their friendship ///  It’s been a rocky road for these two prison wardens.  Between death of loved ones, alcoholism, affairs, drug abuse and attempted murder, the path hasn’t been well lit for these two former mates but with Fletch (Aaron Jeffrey) on-track to regain his memory, could his possible revelation that Ferguson was out to get Will (Robbie Magasiva) after he removed Jianna’s baby from her, bring the two back together?

I love you Frankie!!
I love you Frankie!!

4:  Bridget Westfall resumes counselling duties at Wentworth /// Bridget (Libby Tanner) has to come back right?  It’s the only sane response one has to offer after she was abruptly tossed out thanks to Vera (Kate Atkinson) and her “Ima do what’s right by the Governor” attitude.  Bridget has been this season’s best addition with her need to use her counselling powers to rid these inmates of their demons and if her powers worked on Frankie, just imagine what a session with the Governor would do?!  Plus, it’s Libby Tanner and we need her more on our tv screens.

Where's my precious?
Where’s my precious?

5: Jess is freakier than The Freak /// From day dot I’ve been saying “That girl Jess Warner (Georgia Chara) is a cuckoo clock short of a cuckoo”.  Here’s the thing…we know jack about this girl….literally nothing about her…well except she uses sex as a weapon, has a weird affection for children and makes great ‘if looks could kill’ eyes.  Now that Doreen (Shareena Clanton) has had baby Joshua, Jess’s eepy-creepy face has been coming out a bit more often than normal and it seems her plan to have Joshua all to herself is in full effect.

Think i'll try out for Masterchef...
Think i’ll try out for Masterchef…

6: Frankie gets parole ///  This is what the third season has been leading up-to for Frankie, her big breakthrough with Bridget about killing Meg Jackson (Catherine McClements), her big breakthrough about wanting to get jiggy with Bridget, her big breakthrough that her relationship with drugs has buggered a lot of people up…all signs are pointing to Frankie actually leaving Wentworth – let’s hope I’m wrong on this one!)

Keep your germs...
Keep your germs…

7: The Governor gets taken down /// Frankie, Doreen, Liz and Doreen all know, Fletch and Bridget do too and now Vera has finally joined the anti-freak gang.  There’s no looking back for Joan now that half of Wentworth are in on her freakishly creepy and deviant doings but just how will she go down?  Will it be a joint effort?  Will Vera do it alone?  Perhaps Bea gets her hands on a pencil…either way, there’s no denying that Wentworth will probably need a new governor by seasons end.

I want to be your cell mate.
I want to be your cellmate.

8: Kaz Proctor becomes an inmate at Wentworth /// As the leader of the all-female-all-butt-kicking-all-men-hating group ‘the red right hand’ it’s probably not in Kaz’s (Tammy MacIntosh) best interests that Will Jackson knows exactly who she is.  Add that with a dose of “Hi, thanks for calling, but i’m currently out on a mission, looking for a large bald man to bash” and one can only assume Kaz’s freedom is quite limited.

So there you have it!  Eight of my suspicions for season three’s finale – I’ve purposely left Bea out because…well…I feel she’s a little lost.  Her determination to find the bald man plays into Fletch’s story-line, her determination to bring down Ferguson plays into everyone’s story-line and the only thing Bea really has to possibly worry about is losing her grip as top dog with the prisoners.

What do you guys think?  Am I headed down the right path or am I missing something all-together?  Sound off in the comments below!

Wentworth Season three finale airs Tuesday night, 8:30pm on SoHo.

Orange is the New Black and the New Pop! Vinyl.

wideorange-new-black_cast-620x349

I do love me some Pop! Vinyl figures.  While my collection is small (Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon and Injured Daryl Dixon – AHS Coven’s Fiona Goode – Game of Thrones Brienne of Tarth and Orphan Black’s Alison Hendrix) there’s always room to add more and now, some of our favorite Litchfield inmates and prison guards are coming our way in mini vinyl form thanks to the highly popular Pop! Television series by Funko.

That’s right, mini versions of Piper (Taylor Schilling), Alex (Laura Prepon), Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber) are currently up for pre-order are and slated for a July 2015 release, which oddly enough, misses the season 3 premiere of the show.

I’m still waiting for my very own Pennsatucky with tinsel halo, bad teeth and wooden cross Pop!

Want your very own Alex or Piper?  Check out the pre-order links below from Entertainment Earth by clicking on each of the images!

Friends, Seinfeld, Saved by the Bell, Sailor Moon, MacGyver, Once Upon a Time, The Strain, and Clueless are all slated to pop up in Pop! form very very soon though I’m still awaiting a Melrose Place Pop! Television announcement because you all I know I need me a Sydney Andrews as stripper Jungle Jane and Kimberly Shaw with removable wig Pop!

HBO Opens the Door for Another Valerie Cherish Comeback

comeback_25

At the Paley Centre for Media’s ‘An Evening with The Comeback’ that ran tonight, creator/writer/producer/star Lisa Kudrow and cast confirmed that HBO has indeed left the door open for a third series of the critically acclaimed comedy.

At the event, both Kudrow and co-creator Michael Patrick King stated that they are ‘currently talking about it’ [season three] and that HBO are on board whenever the show is ready to go.  Considering the less than impressive ratings season 2 gave the network, it’s surprising to hear that HBO is still on board – but fans (like myself) are more than happy to hear this news.

So if season three was to go ahead, what could we expect to see for Emmy winner Valerie Cherish?  Sound off in the comments below!

First Look: Orphan Black 3×01

The clones find themselves in all sorts of trouble this season on Orphan Black. Source: Provided

It’s very easy to get lost within the world of Sarah Manning and her ‘seestras’.  Through a multitude of clones – Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Rachel, Helena and even Tony (all played by Tatiana Maslany) and secret government corporations and shady religious cults, words like Dyad, Proletheans, Leekie and Castro all began to become intertwined with one another.  For serious Clone Club card carrying Orphan Black fans, it’s easy to follow and understand but for fans like myself, we love the show but get to a point where we begin to ask “wait….is Dyad good?”

Oddly enough, with that surprise introduction of the male clones and the military based ‘project Castro’ in the closing moments of season two, the season three opener swiftly brings everyone and everything into place making it easy enough for fans like myself to know who stands where – for now.

Without offering spoilers, the season three opener can be described with a few simple words ‘sweet dreams are not made of these’ as we reconnect with a kidnapped and heavily pregnant Helena adjusting to her new surroundings with the help of a little stingy friend.

Sarah, Felix (Jordan Gavaris) and Kira (Skyler Wexler) are still none the wiser regarding Helena’s disappearance, Cosima (who received a stem cell transplant from Kira) looks to be on the mend, Rachel…well we know she’s one eye down now, Delphine (Évelyne Brochu) has made the move up the Dyad ladder while Alison is delving headfirst into re-instating her former social standing.  it’s not long however before we find our clones doing something we all love watching them do – play each other!

I’ts a general consensus that Maslany is a true talent, and it becomes cemented when we get to see her play Alison playing Sarah while Sarah plays Rachel all in the one scene.

Between the clones playing dress up, the male clones wanting information, Dyad trying to hold off cleaners, Delphine being all powerful and something called ‘Helsinki’ taking place, the season three opener could feel a bit hectic and trying to juggle too much at once, but without sounding like a broken record, it actually felt very easy to follow and continued with the quality of story-telling we’ve come to expect with Orphan Black.

Now it’s just a waiting game as to where this third season will take us.

Orphan Black Season Three begins in Australia Tuesday, 21 April at 9.35pm on SBS 2

Showcase to Marathon OITNB Season 3

Ruby Rose joins the cast of Orange is The New Black's third season
Ruby Rose joins the cast of Orange is The New Black’s third season

Showcase are bringing us the entire run of Orange is the new Black’s third season in one marathon event at the same time the show premiere’s in the US – Jan 12th!

It’s great news for fans of the quirky prison drama (who have access to Showtime via Foxtel) as the channel is also planning a seasons one and two marathon prior to the onset of season three.

So what can we expect for season three?  Netflix are keeping most details hush hush but we already know that local Ruby Rose has joined the cast and that Jason Biggs will not be returning (for season three at least).

Veteran actor Mary Steenburgen will appear playing Pornstache’s (Mendez) mother but how exaclty that will play out considering his current imprisonment and that actor Pablo Schreiber who plays Mendez is a series regular on another show (The brink) and Laura Prepon’s Alex Vause will return as a major player again after being somewhat absent for most of season two.

So mark your calendars – June 12th for the entire third season of Orange is the new Black on Showcase!

The Daily Telegraph also announced some interesting casting news for the up-coming third season.  Looking for Alibrandi star Pia Miranda, All Saint’s Libby Tanner and Tammy McIntosh will all appear with Miranda playing inmate Jodie Spiteri, Tanner (whom I’ve always though would be perfect for this show) stars as psychologist Bridget Westfall and McIntosh as vigilante Karen Proctor.

Say’s the Daily Telegraph article “A production spokeswoman hinted: “all three will impact the power play of the prison.”

Season Four will air some-time early-mid 2016.

First Look – Hannibal Season 3 Trailer

Hannibal-season-2-promo-image

The first look at Hannibal’s third season is ready for devouring and judging by the video, it looks like we’re in for a mighty meal.

The trailer for the cult-favorite, blood soaked thriller shows Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) alive and well after his encounter with Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) obsessivly on the hunt tracking down the killer with a penchant for flesh who is now on the run.

Gillian Anderson is back (of course, but this time in a more permanent role) as Bedelia Du Maurier and a new face in the form of Tao Okamoto as Chio who, as Fuller states, plays a twist on the Lady Murasaki character from the Hannibal novels.

Check out the trailer below:

Showrunner Bryan Fuller announced that season three will pull heavily from Thomas Harris’ novels Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising, mashing up elements from both novels and revealing a very different origin story for Hannibal.

Hannibal’s third season begins later this year.
