More Details about Stevie Nicks AHS Coven Guest Role

The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks – the title of American Horror Story: Coven’s next episode (airing Jan 13th on 11) will see the legendary singer not only sing in the episode but offer up a famous shawl twirl with Misty Day (Lily Rabe).

With tensions rising within the coven, the search for the new supreme leads current supreme Fiona Goode (Jessica Lange) to bring in the White Witch – (a witchy version of Stevie Nicks) in order to feel out the current powers of Misty Day – the front runner for Fiona’s replacement.

The Fleetwood Mac singer said that she’s never seen a horror movie in her life, or any of the previous seasons of “American Horror Story.” She gave “Coven” a shot and said, “I’m watching the show going, ‘Oh my god, this is the most twisted thing I’ve ever seen.'” But it only took the first two episodes for Nicks to say she was “definitely in.”

AHS Coven Dispels Spin-Off Rumors

Image

Well hasn’t this just been the most wonderful and intriguing season of American Horror Story?  I must admit, I never watched season one (but will rectify that over my Xmas break) and started with two but the mix of mental asylums and aliens was too confusing so I gave up, and when news broke that Stevie Nicks was guesting on Coven, I immediately got straight into it, watching the first 6 episodes in a two day stint.

So, this news about the Coven spin-off that has everyone talking….well creator Ryan Murphy has been quick to set the record straight.  “We were starting to break episode 8 or 9 and we were like, ‘Well, we can’t kill that person off because we need them for the spin-off.’ As soon as those words were said, I was like, ‘There is no spin-off.’ Because it took away from the joy of the show. The reason the show is successful is no one is safe ever.”

Murphy has also begun dropping hints about where the next series of AHS may go and while we already know the utterly devastating news that Coven will be Jessica Lange’s last (WHY?!), Murphy’s most recent interview with Entertainment Weekly shed some light on some new possible locations for the series’ next installment.

“It’s not contemporary … It’s either going to shoot in New Orleans or it’s going to shoot in Santa Fe.”

It’s rumored that if the shoot moves to Santa Fe, season four could be exploring a Roswell story line (even though season two used an alien theme) but my tip is that Murphy may learn towards a vampire themed season 4.  He also made it very clear that with Lange’s departure, he’d like to have Coven stars Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates continue on.

Also news on Stevie Nicks guest appearance…a first look photo reveals Stevie has arrived on set and begun filming her scenes for the up-coming episode in which Nicks will be playing herself as part of a ruse by supreme witch Fiona who is trying to get the next true supreme to reveal herself (clearly this means she’s believing Misty Day could be the next supreme) so she tells Misty that the Supreme gets so many great things in life, like tickets to the Oscars and Met Ball tickets.

So she brings Stevie Nicks in as a gift to Misty to prove to her that if she exhibits more power she’ll get that and more. Then the other girls come home and see Stevie and Misty singing and it starts them trying to move much quicker to prove that they are the supreme.

Stevie Nicks will appear on American Horror Story: Coven

Get out your tambourines, your shawls and beads because Fleetwood Mac lead singer Stevie Nicks has been confirmed to guest star on American Horror Story: Coven!

Coven co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted “Guess who’s visiting the coven?  The legendary Stevie Nicks!”

While no further details were revealed, the show has been referencing Nicks quite regularly with character Misty Day, played by Lily Rabe, obsessed with the singer and the classic song ‘Rhiannon’ in which she cites as being the inspiration for her witchy ways.

It’s not the first time a character on screen has been influenced by the ways of the legendary singer.  Back in 2001, an indie movie called Gypsy 83 saw Sara Rue as a young outcast obsessed with Nicks and had a dream to one day attend the ‘Night of 1000 Stevies’ in New York.

American Horror Story: Coven, airs Monday Nights, 9:30pm on 11.
